Gowrie Victoria

www.gowrievictoria.org.au

Gowrie Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation providing services to support and enhance the development of excellence in early childhood education and care. Our services include long day care, kindergarten, training, resources and advice.

The Gowrie Children's program implements a play based, emergent curriculum, which responds to children's interests, ideas and individual needs. Gowrie Victoria’s approach to early childhood learning and development is reflected in the state and national Early Years Learning Framework's vision to provide children with a sense of Belonging, to recognise and celebrate their Being and support their Becoming. Visitors can view the children’s program via observation booths that enable high quality practices to be modelled.

The children's program environment is flexible, stimulating, inviting and purposefully arranged with natural resources, to capture children's interests, ideas and cater to individual needs. Our educators help children to reach their full potential by providing children with choices, by assisting children to negotiate change, by listening to their thoughts and ideas and by empowering them to make appropriate decisions about safe, inclusive and equitable play.

ArtPlay

ArtPlay is expanding! As well as the beautiful arts centre and playground, ArtPlay is developing its very own backyard. We’re working to create a space for preschoolers and other Artplayers to do their art thing — outdoors.

ArtPlay is working with a series of artists to run playgroup/kinder and public workshops for children aged two to five years and their families. The aim of the project is to invite families of diverse backgrounds to ArtPlay to investigate what might work as a "creative space" behind the ArtPlay building.

Eco-Cubby will be working with Architect Martin Musiatowicz and a local school (TBC) at ArtPlay to develop a cubby house design for the backyard.

Kensington Primary School
www.kensingtonps.vic.edu.au

Kensington PS is a vibrant school, four kilometres from Melbourne. It is one of the oldest schools in Victoria, serving its inner city neighbourhood since 1881 and proud of the role it plays in community life. The school is close to a range of public transport and a lively neighbourhood shopping centre.

The tenets of equal opportunity are integral to the school. Care, tolerance and respect for everyone's rights are encouraged. The school believes its diversity of cultures and values develops tolerance, understanding and exposes students to other ways of thinking.

At all times the focus at Kensington Primary School is the development of each student in a positive and stimulating learning environment.
Students are encouraged to develop skills for a lifetime of learning, with emphasis being placed on co-operative, independent learning.

The school has a vibrant sustainability program that educates students about, waste, recycling and water conservation. Students are involved in a vibrant kitchen gardening club called 'Grubbies' to help educate students about the value and importance of fresh home grown foods, composting and reducing waste.
