Bundarra Primary School
www.bundarraps.globalteacher.org.au

Bundarra Primary School is one of 6 primary schools in Portland which is situated about 450kms to the west of Melbourne. We have a "floating" student population that hovers around the 240 mark. Many of our parents work at the Portland Aluminium Smelter the largest employer in our shire. As Portland is a large spit of land surrounded by sea on 3 sides fishing, both deep sea and off the beach are important industries and pastimes for parents and children. With all this ocean breeze wind farms now appear all around us. At Bundarra we have 10 grades and have fairly limited facilities eg; we don't have an indoor area large enough for all the school to meet in yet. The challenges that greet us each day strengthen and extend us as teachers. The children reflect and enjoy all efforts the staff make on their behalf.

Napoleons Primary School

Napoleons Primary school has a unique history, with the old Napoleons school dating back to 1870. The school has a 2009 population of 115 students and the future growth trend seems to be established. The school grounds are expansive, but there is a need to ensure sustainable practices are encouraged. Napoleons Primary school continually strives to celebrate our successes and improvement is always on the agenda. We believe that the locality of the school itself is not only very attractive, but also conducive to a curriculum very much associated with hands on, personalised learning. We provide a Reading Recovery program, a developing environmental program, French and music as significant aspects of our overall school program.

Our emphasis is on providing engaging programs supportive of our literacy and numeracy objectives. We are also seeking a learning environment that is caring and considerate of others. As a school our purpose is to provide programs and opportunities for students to develop their academic, social, emotional and physical potential in a supported and dynamic learning environment. As a learning school community we perceive as the cornerstone of our values the following; creativity, initiative, respect, responsibility and rewarding personal best.
